Today we had our annual "development day" with the technical teams from UCA Farnham and Epsom. We had a great day having fun being introduced to animation. I completely appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into any animated film. You need great imagination, creativity and a lot of patience to do animation well.
We were put into groups to collaborate and bond with fellow technicians. Myself and Katie were with Liz from the Epsom campus. I think we made a great team, and had a good laugh.
Initially we were asked to make some mouth features out of play dough, basically mimicking the vowels to what a mouth would sort of look like when speaking certain words.
We then were taken to the animation department and introduced to the software that they use and taken though some basic steps to create a short 10 second animation which went along with a short sentence that had been pre recorded.
The idea was that we were allowed to put our own take on the animation as long as the mouth looked like it went along with the words... we thought we'd take up the opportunity to be a bit childish... because it was funny, and because we could....
