It's nearly the end of June already! I've been so busy learning so many new things, i'm constantly forgetting to blog about them :(.
Good news to start of with... I finally got myself a job!... (a job relating to my degree). I'm now a textile technician at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham. I couldn't love it more. Everyday i'm faced with different and new tasks... some challenging and others that get me quite excited (like buying new equipment!)
I'm at the university full time, inducting print students into the equipment within the studio. The inductions i've given so far have include how to coat screens, de-coating, exposing screens, different dye recipes, how to mix up print pastes, heat press use, steamer use and introductions to large scale repeat production.
I feel like part of the studio now and will be great to see so many other students progress and produce amazing textiles. One of my many goals here is to turn the studio around... update it! The place is still in 60's zone and all it needs is a bit of paint, re-organising and mostly ... love. I couldn't love this studio more as it's pretty much my second home now.
This week i've been updating the Remazol Black Liquid Dye book. I love to see how fabrics take the colour in completely
different ways...
I have no doubt i'll be so busy for the next few months updating the studio!... Next week is New Designers exhibition in London where all the graduates will be showing their work.... well worth the trip, i'm looking forward to it
